Here, what matters is having an umbrella close at hand, opening at the push of a button and showing the logo clearly when someone steps outside. In simpler stick models, the 23-inch format with screen printing on one panel works well for this use and keeps the whole set easy to top up.
Place the logo halfway up the panel, not tight to the edge: the triangle narrows towards the centre, and that is where it reads best. If it will be used a lot, dark fabrics hide dirt better and a white logo stands out more on black or navy.

If the umbrella will spend a lot of time outdoors, it is worth prioritising a frame that flexes in a gust and springs back into shape. Windproof models fit this use well, with fibreglass ribs and automatic opening, designed for more demanding use than a simple umbrella stand.
Check the product page to make sure it is genuinely windproof and do not go by looks alone. If the person receiving it is on foot all day, remember a stick umbrella does not fit in a backpack: for that, custom folding umbrellas are usually a better fit.

When the umbrella is given as a gift, finish, handle and overall look matter more than pushing down the unit price. Premium models, with better fabrics and more refined details, work well with screen printing, screen transfer, digital transfer or sublimation, depending on what each product page allows.
Do not assume a standard stick umbrella will cover two people leaving a meeting. If that is the use, look at custom golf umbrellas. And if the logo has gradients or lots of colours, digital transfer is a better choice than screen printing.
