Paper weight decides strength

For kraft, 90 to 120 gsm is typical, and for white laminated paper, 150 to 170 gsm. At 120 gsm, with a reinforced base and handles, the bag will hold two bottles.

Technique depends on quantity and colours

Digital printing or screen printing for short runs, flexo or offset for long runs. For a gold or silver finish, hot foil stamping.

Where printed paper bags fit

The most common use is the trade show: the bag carries the literature, the giveaway and whatever the visitor picks up at other stands, and leaves the venue carrying your brand. For that, 120 gsm kraft with a cord handle and a reinforced base works well.

The second use is handing out: the carrier bag for your customers, the bottle bag for a year-end gift or the wrapping for a present in the office or for a new starter. If you want an environmental angle, recycled paper of 100 to 120 gsm with water-based inks is a good fit.

Paper, handle and print

You can choose natural or white kraft, coated paper with a matt or gloss laminate, or recycled paper. The handle can be flat paper, twisted paper cord or cotton cord with an inner reinforcement, and the format runs from small bags for literature to bottle bags of around 12 × 9 × 39 cm.

For one- or two-colour logos on kraft, screen printing or flexo gives a clean finish; if the design has photography or gradients, you need digital or offset printing on coated paper. The logo can go on one side, on both, or on the side gussets too.

How to choose printed paper bags

What goes inside
Below 90 gsm the bag is fine for literature or light stationery. For heavier gifts or two bottles, choose kraft of 120 gsm or more, with a reinforced base and handles.
The paper and the finish
Kraft gives a natural look and acts as a backdrop for the logo. Laminated coated paper of 150 to 170 gsm gives the feel of a shop carrier bag and takes full-colour printing.
The type of handle
The flat paper handle suits small giveaways and literature. Twisted paper cord or cotton cord with an inner reinforcement is more comfortable when the bag is heavy.
The technique for the run
For short runs, digital printing or screen printing, without big set-up costs. For long runs, flexo or offset, which need printing plates but bring down the cost per bag.

What paper weight does a paper bag need to carry bottles?

For two bottles, kraft of 120 gsm or more, with a reinforced base and handles and a cord handle. For a single bottle, the bottle bag format of around 150 gsm is the most comfortable.

How many printed paper bags do I need to order?

It depends on the technique: digital printing and screen printing allow short runs, while flexo and offset pay off on large quantities. We confirm the quantity with the quote, and the order must come to at least SEK 1,129 excl. VAT, not counting delivery.

Which printing technique is best for paper bags?

Can you make recycled paper bags with a logo?

Yes, with hot foil stamping: a metallic foil applied with heat and pressure. It is used for small prints, around 6 to 10 cm wide, and looks good on laminated paper or kraft.
